After implementing intervention |
Problems |
Improvement |
1. Tactile Defensiveness:
- Had never hugged his father in 17 years
|
- He could hug his elephants and then his father upon returning home
|
2. Inflexibility:
- very strict in his time schedule in daily living like waking, eating, going to bed
|
- More flexible in his schedule and able to accept changes
|
3. Poor Socialization and Communication:
- no response to greetings,
- no eye contact, no awareness of others and their needs/feelings
- inability to express his need/feelings through verbal communication
- experienced extreme frustration when he must wait on something or someone
|
- Can respond to greetings, and able to initiate greetings and conversation himself
- Caring for his peer group, family, and those at the clinic
- Able to express his feelings and needs through speech and interacting with others
- Slightly frustrated when forced to wait e.g. waiting in a queue or taking turns in a game
|
4. Gravitational Insecurity:
- Slow, uncoordinated and fear of some types of movement e.g. scared of climbing
|
- Able to mount elephant and ride independently; this carried over to daily life in the ability to use a lift and escalator
